About FETAC

The Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) is the statutory awarding body for further education and training in Ireland. FETAC makes quality assured awards that are part of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) from levels 1-6. Meeting learner needs is central to the work of FETAC. 

 

FETAC:

  • makes and promotes awards on the National Framework of Qualifications
  • determines standards and award requirements
  • validates programmes leading to awards
  • monitors and quality assures programmes and services

 

LEARNERS CHARTER

 

Access/Entry Requirements Policy:

 

Where entry requirements exist SMT will implement in accordance with the necessary guidance and FETAC module descriptors. SMT has available a statement of learner entry requirements in information sheets and brochures for each specific programmes. Not every course that SMT provides has entry requirements.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning:

SMT establishes from the learner prior experience and education through our prerequisites form. SMT provide information to the learner on our courses which enables them to make an informed decision.

 

Their prior learning experiences influences the manner in which SMT Consultants prepares and delivers the programme.

 

Fair and Consistent Assessment of Learners:

It is the policy of the SMT Training Centre to Fairly and Consistently assess all Learners presenting for FETAC awards at our centre and have all those assessments of learners conducted by competent and trained staff. To this end the centre will ensure that all assessments are conducted in a fair manner, implemented with fairness and guided the principles as set out in the FETAC document for the fair and consistent of Learners Policy Document 2007 and the guidelines for assessment methodologies and marking of those assessments in the FETAC module Descriptors for making national awards.
